Spare wheel for 2500HD 2004

Hi

I have a 2500HD 2004 with a rusted out spare wheel - it has 8 lugs. Can anyone who has access to a manufacturer's spec tell me what are the exact specs for this? The tires I have are LT245/75R16 so I assume these are 16".

If anyone has a recommendation for where to find to avoid calling junk yards I'd appreciate it.

Also, is the under-the-vehicle connection (winch type thing) for the spare wheel easily replaceable? I had it cut out to get the wheel out. I live next to the water and the winter wind and salt air rusts stuff out quickly

Thanks a lot

Chris

The spare is the same exact size as the regular wheels. As for replacing it, look on ebay, Craigslist and even the aftermarket. Steel wheels are pretty cheap to come by.

I had the same issue with my truck's spare not coming down. Replacing the winch shouldn't be difficult. The whole assembly is held on by one bolt, however the part may be pricy; I don't know because I have yet to shop around for one. Start google searching for the part.

The new spare tire holders are a pain to use, so make sure you get the old style like your truck came with. The new ones have a safety latch that requires the factory jack to be used to push up as you lower the tire...it's the dumbest idea ever!

It should be easy to find a new spare wheel and tire at any junk yard, ebay, craigslist, tire shop, etc. You have an 8 x 6-1/2" bolt pattern on a 16" wheel, which was common for many years. GM changed to a 8 x 108mm in 2011.
