2011 sierra shifting out of park

As someone else has mentioned, it may be something as simple as the shift linkage or cable( I don't recall if the connection from column to transmission is via a cable or traditional mechanical linkage. If it uses a cable, the cable may be damaged or corroded internally making it stiff when cold.

Does it matter how hard you press the brake pedal? Do you happen to park on a hill? Is you truck under 3 years old, and have less than 36000 miles? In other words, are you still under bumper to bumper warranty? \

 

If this only happens on hills, set the parking brake BEFORE you let off the brake pedal and shift to park.
