Duplicolor Customwrap Removable coating - anybody used?

Recommended Posts

Has anybody used the Duplicolor Customwrap removable coating to paint badges, etc?

I saw it on TruckU one weekend but forgot about it until I saw it at Advance. They have a color called Graphite Metallic that is pretty close to Greystone Metallic. I picked up a can and did my bowtie with it. It's pretty close but is a slighly different shade which gives a nice contrast to the rest of the grill. I could probably clear it to make it match a little better.

I'm thinking about doing my badges as well and want to do something different than just black. Has anybody used the duplicolor stuff with good results? I don't want to spray it on the truck and it not peel off as well as plastidip.

Plastidip does have a color called Anthracite but I didn't feel like ordering it yet. Supposedly it's a close match to the greystone as well.

I'll get a picture of it later today in case anybody in interested in seeing the color.

Not sure. I didn't even think about painting the rear bumper with it.

The only problem with the Duplicolor stuff is that is says to remove or recoat every 6 months for optimum peel. I'm afraid that if I put it on the bumper and clear over it that I won't be able to remove it at a later date.

I might try to find a cheap chrome bumper at the junkyard and test it. I'd rather spend $100 on a junkyard bumper and test it vs ruining the one on my truck.

Yeah that's true. Let me know if you go that route. I'd like to see it. I'm slowly working towards removing all of the chrome from my truck. I only want two colors...gray and black. I've looked into getting the bumper wrapped in vinyl, but that's pretty expensive. I've also thought about just doing it with black plasti dip, until I saw your post. Maybe that Anthracite plasti dip would be close. I really like plasti dip's ability to be peeled off if needed.
