The wife found her replacement vehicle (2015)

She called me the other day and said "hey go check out the new Porsche Macan, I like it". Little did she know I had already seen the info on them and mentioned it to her but she blew off the suggestion.

So last weekend we went to the local Audi/Porsche dealer to check one out. It is a new model and just came out so there is not much inventory yet, the dealer did have one they ordered as their demo. It was the Macan Turbo, as much as I would have loved to get it neither one of us was interested in the $85k sticket on it. It was nice though, AWD with a turbo 400hp engine.

We did test drive a Audi Q5 S-Line while there, it was used and slightly beat up but it gave us an impression at least. If we go that route it will be the Audi SQ5 so we can get the bigger 353hp motor over the 272hp motor in the regular Q5.

Now the waiting game starts, thinking by middle of next year the Macan Sports will be on the lot so we can test drive one and make the decision. She really likes the styling on it and the thought of not having something that everyone has on the road.

Once you start marking those boxes on the option sheet that $84k will probably hit 100 fast.

Sent from Windows Phone.

I remember years ago I was playing with the Cayman Build-It site. You have surely seen newer Prosches with the etched logo center cap. Some with the full color emblem center cap. I think getting the color in the emblem was(is?) a several Hundred dollar option.

The $85k Macan Turbo they had was loaded pretty well, had the CF interior and exterior bits along with the nicer wheels and brakes, heated/cooled seats and the Alacantra ceiling in it as well.

You are right though, they do have a option for everything. We have built both the Macan Sport and the SQ5 online and both end up around $60kish which would be fine as I think we can put $20k down on it so the payment would be ok.

Oh man. That's sweet!

Porsche is adamant that it only shares unimportant bits with the Audi. My biggest issue is reliability. One of the Mags had a Cheyenne that spent 3-4 months of its year in the dealership service bay. That wasn't just one visit either!

Just priced one out for us folks up here in the Great White North. Taxes in with all the bells and whistles we are looking at $105,694.55, that doesn't include delivery, Air Condition Surcharge, BS charge that our F'd up government rapes us for etc., etc. LOL!!

Definitely a nice ride. I test drove the Audi Q5 a couple of years ago and it truly handled like it was on rails. If you are going to be spending that type of cash for a German machine I would look towards the sedans as well. Test drive the A7 you will not be disappointed that is an incredible car and I bet you will have the same cargo capacity as in the Porsche. You know this Macan would never go off road anyways.

Yeah neither the Macan or the SQ5 will go offroad, the AWD is for peace of mind for the winter weather we get and or if we travel to her parents house in MN. We need a SUV though so no sedans, I need to be able to put a hitch on it so we can haul or bikes around to events.

There is a guy on a Camaro site that regularly tows with his first gen Camaro. He has the pics to prove it, last I saw was towing an old Chevy truck home. Guy has done it for decades. He posts pics just to make some people nuts

They sure look good but I would not want one past it's warranty.

I've seen a few around in the south bay area in Torrance CA. Looks like a evolved Cayenne.

What's amazing to me is that I see everything from gardeners driving rusty, twisted, smoldering, wreckage, to Bentleys, Lambos, Ferraris, etc., daily since those people live up the hill from me. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that these extremes share the road together.

The other day, I saw one of these McLaren's...

Where's Jethro and Elly Mae? Nothing wrong with a guy making a living, just two different livings. That old truck looked better when it was new, too.
