The all new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are on their way to dealerships and customers

Yesterday, Chevrolet and GMC announced that shipments of the two new mid-size trucks had began via rail and truck.

Consumers have "configured" more than 100,000 of the mid-size trucks since the model's "build your own" tool went live online September 3rd.

For 2016, a 2.8L Duramax turbo-diesel will be offered as an engine choice.

“The Colorado was designed to meet the demands of the modern midsized truck buyer, and now we’re fulfilling the demand they’ve placed on us,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet. “Chevrolet and everyone at the Wentzville plant has worked hard to get the truck out on time to fulfill as soon as possible the orders our dealers have placed.”

Zane can you do me a favor when you go to test these new trucks out, and ask them why they have put so many constraints on options like colors and wheel choices and if they hopefully plan on lifting them? And then please reiterate to them that the customer and not GM should be in control of this!

Because yes not allowing me the color or rim option I want will make me cross this model off as a potential next buy!

You got it

My personal guess is they will open things up once production hits full stride. Constraining models during the launch period is not uncommon.

Looking forward to seeing one in person...odd on GM's Canadian site there's yet to be a "build your own" option for these trucks. :P

Anyone know pricing? If these become 40k loaded, might as well buy full size.

Go use the builder. They're both live now. Having a nicely optioned Z71 ex cab Colorado got me to $35k I think. Same on a Silvy was about $10k more.

But at least on fullsizes only chumps pay MSRP. We'll see what incentives exist on the new trucks.

  • 4 weeks later...

Alexander Chevrolet just got theirs (a Silver Z71 CCLB, with the V6 and nearly all the bells and whistles at $37K) today, and they have two more on the way! I actually talked with the Inventory Manager at Alexander, and he said GM is VERY Tightly controlling how many trucks are allocated; even the Very High Volume Dealers are limited to just 5 Colorados on their lot. (and i'm assuming they are limiting the Canyons as well)

here's the truck in all of its Glory (the Picture was taken by the Dealer for their Facebook Page) they can't sell it just yet, as the Paperwork from the Transport Company hasn't yet cleared, and they haven't PDI'd it yet, and they won't PDI it until the Transport Paperwork Clears.

Silver as a color is growing on me. I always used to think it looked too plain but more and more vehicles wear it well. It looks good on there though I wouldn't want the crew cab.

that reminds me, the colors of the Two Colorados on the way are Summit White, and Cyber Gray Metallic.

EDIT: I just checked the Chevrolet Website, and it shows that Alexander already has the two that are on the way, and they are both Z71 CCLB models, when in reality they only have the Silver Ice Metallic one that was delivered today.

I will test drive one, they are a little pricy now. Im seeing 34 to 41K . Saw on line yesterday, 2014 Ram eco diesel 33k, and it wasn't striped, yes it was new. didn't expect that.
