Anyone using these brands to mount your pistols?

Recommended Posts

Cheaper but requires no drilling (more appealing to me)

Little more pricey and requires drilling (but does seem much more smoother for access)

Anyone with experience used these before?

I have the gum creek holster and my XD 45 5.0 barrel is to heavy for it. Also it is very hard to get it to mount on the bottom of the steering column. It seems to work better with my M&P 9mm but now I have gotten use to my Xd being beside my seat so I don't think about much any more.

Neat concept. Though honestly I'm a bit wary about having it out in the open. Legal in MI and NHT but during a traffic stop you know the officer will see that before you can say anything.

I see, its totally legal in Oklahoma. We love open carry laws.. not for being cowboys but for convenience and no longer a fear if our shirt comes up a little or our jacket opens and it becomes visible or you have a badA magnet on your dash that holds ur sidekick in the perfect "stand your ground" position. lol

my dad used the gum creek holster in his f150. great holster as well.

Yes, in Texas we can carry in car/truck but grassburr explained that if open holster rather than the pouch could get you some heat from a zealous officer. In fact the car/truck carry is an extension of our castle law here in TX.

It was passed to stop some towns and districts that would not follow our right to carry in car, out of county over night etc.. by the older law. They would find a fire arm and haul you in. You were within the then established law but you had to fight it. Plus you were hauled in for the day/night. Even in Texas!!

Yeah I'm comfortable with the laws where I travel but it's more the reaction of the officer when you get stopped. Legal or not their reaction to a pistol that close may not be fun, right or not.

I'm a NRA life member and owner of NFA toys and as PRO second amendment as one can get.

With that said, I won't own one of these, while granted I think it's a GREAT idea. Oxymoron I know lol. But I guess I'm just too paranoid that some idiot will see the gun and call 911 or as simple as getting out of vehicle and having to move the gun to stow it out of sight in the vehicle and a bad guy seeing you do this and breaking in after you walk off.

And this.

If you choose to use it I would STRONGLY suggest you stick your hands out of the window or on the dash and inform the officer and specifically follow his instructions to the letter.

That's why I'm getting the concealed flap referred to above. To be honest, Im' not getting this because i plan on carrying in my truck every day, its more for just a place to put my pistol when I do carry since its been so uncomfortable in my waist line while sitting. I've always either just kept wearing it on short trips or had to take it out of my waist and place it in my console on longer trips, I just want something more convenient.

Nope I use a cheap universal fits everything but nothing well holster in my center console. Fits every pistol and revolver I carry. When I get somewhere I'm forced to disarm I just stick everything I can't bring with me under the cup holders.

You can expect to have the officers pistol pointed at you as well. There are a ton of police out there who are NOT gun guys and they are not comfortable around firearms either, especially as you walk up on a vehicle stop and it's the first thing you see.

One of those guys would draw down on you for sure. You shoul be asked to put your hands on the wheel and keep them there, that's the right way to go about it.

The proper way to carry is on your person at all times. Nothing is worse than showing up at a vehicle accident scene and the driver telling you "I lost my gun, it was (insert location). Being on your person is the only way it will be secure and under your control at all times.

For those of you who have holsters rigged somewhere in your vehicle, remember that no matter what happens, you are responsible for that firearm and every round in it. It may seem like it's secure until something unexpected happens.

I have been at accidents where the driver was knocked out and emergency crews cutting him out of the truck actually had a round discharge and strike a medic in the arm. When it's dark and people can't see your contraption with a gun in it, bad things can and most likely will happen.
