2011 Silverado Electrical Nightmare...

Recommended Posts

First off let me start off by saying hey. Been browsing this site for awhile now and got alot of good answers and help but now ive come across something i have no idea what to do about. I have a 2011 Silverado LT 5.3. Just purchased recentley "AS-IS" and the warranty is up. So Im going to try to make this short as possible...

A day after i purchased the vehicle i kept getting "Hood Open" flashing and dinging when the hood is in fact closed while driving. Figured its just the latch which I can replace.

Then i decided to order some HIDs for the Lows and Fogs. Ordered them off amazon from Inovited. Worked good for about a week and i notified them and they are sending me a relay harness... but this is where it gets weird...

Pretty much all the time when i have the truck on and or driving, i can hear a whining noise. And i know for a fact its the washer fluid pump running because it was almost empty and it emptied itself all over my windshield while driving... after refilling it all the way to the top, the next day on the way to work it just decided yolo im gonna drain this sucker...

So basically what i have now is.... when the pump decides to run by itself, the passenger side headlights and fogs do not work.. the HIGH beam turns on but its very dim AND ALSO...when i pull the left stick i guess you would call it? to turn on your high beams, when the sprayer isnt deciding to spray by itself, it will turn the pump on anyway...which i know is not normal..even when i stick it forward to keep the high beams on the pump just keeps running...

As my warranty has just ran out, wonder if it has anything at all to do with the hids (which i doubt, but who knows?)

Just curious as to if anyone has ever encountered anything like this and may have a simple fix??? which i doubt is simple but, all ears are open...

Thanks

also forgot to note i did pull the drl and drl2 fuse after HIDs installed..

That'll prolly cost a pretty penny... Ill wait till i get my HID cancellors and relay harness and see if one of them help... Maybe think the 55w ballast is trying to pull too much (and i hope to hell thats what it is). Thanks for the replies... all else fails i know a friend of mine that works at an auto electric shop and ill contact him.

So checked some fuses under the hood. Is there not supposed to be a relay for the fuel pump cus Umm mines not there? Lol but the truck runs.. I have pics but can't upload from my phone? And also there are some cut wires under the dash that I'm not sure what they are actually for...

This is true also. But what's weird is that when the pump runs it runs quiet not like when I turn them on manually. And the high beams come on but are very dim. Almost like something is drawing alot of power somewhere and causing it. Which makes me think it's the 55w hid ballasts. Didn't do it before I had hids and granted I only had the truck for maybe two weeks before that. But the hids did work for about a solid week without a relay harness. Maybe my battery is just bad? Haven't checked that lol
