Aussie doing LB7 injectors, questions?!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, my name's Trent. I'm posting up here to give my father a hand with replacing the injectors on his 2002 GMC 3500. We found that the sump was full of diesel (thankfully no damage seems to have been done to the main bearings or anything, the truck runs smooth as silk and we've obviously changed the oil).

Now, we're assuming that given the fact the sump is filling up with fuel and the compression seems fine (starts well cold and hot, doesn't blow any smoke, haven't gotten around to comp testing it yet, though) that an injector body has cracked, or a fuel line has cracked. Would you guys tend to agree?

A bit of a background on me - I'm 22, been playing with cars for a while and I feel I'm pretty competent when it comes to turning spanners. I haven't worked on a diesel before, so this should be interesting!

Please bare with me, I AM aware of how to use the search function and I know this topic has probably been done to death, but we're in Australia, so I have a few important questions I need to ask that may not get answered if I post in an old thread.

1 - are there any websites that ship to Australia that sell everything needed for a reasonable price? By everything I mean:

Injector cups (please advise if these are necessary)
Gaskets
Fuel lines
Special tools for injector removal (and any other special tool necessary, possibly fuel line tools? Please advise)

We'd like to get everything from one place to avoid any mishaps and to save on shipping.

If someone could give us a concise list of everything we'd need so we aren't caught short, that would be greatly appreciated. It's not like we can head down to the shop if we're halfway through the job and we've forgotten something. Part support over here for these beasts is scarce!

Thanks in advance, we'll document the build as a bit of a father/son project!

Cheers,

Trent

I have a good friend who moved to Australia a few years ago. He's living in Perth. He's told us about how different the automotive scene is there. I cannot provide much info for parts and such but I wish you well. Your best bet will be to just search the Internet alot.
