Hello everyone, just curious on suggestions for a replacement alternator for my '06 Sierra, (5.3 crew cab, 4X4). Anyone put a higher performance part in there or just stick with the DELCO part? I have ripper out the air box and replaced with K&N Open Air, and there is a Magna Flow on the back end, but other than that not much is different...Thanks, on a side note there is a lot fo talk about whining steering when you turn left, I have that too any suggestions/thoughts?

I meant to put 13. But if you want to get technical, 2014 SUV's had 145 amp alternators

Well I'm talking about 1500 pickups, since that's what we're talking about. According to the GM parts sites for the 1500 with the 5.3 there is a 150 and a 170. Just letting you know and wasn't trying to get technical, I was just saying what mine is on my '14. If you meant to put 13 then that's all you had to say....

If you put an alternator that puts out more amps than the one that came off, do you need to do anything to the electrical system? Especially if you jump all the way up to the 300 amp range?

Anyone? I am good with car AUDIO electrical...but not sure about this question here...

You should do the big 3. Run 2 big ass grounds, and one big ass power from alternator to battery. I used 1/0 AWG from batt+ to alt. Then batt- to frame and frame to engine block
