Setting up audio content on the SD card

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping someone has already been through this. I have reviewed the other topics, but I haven't seen this covered.

I have a 2014 Sierra with the 8" Touch Screen & Nav. I have a 64GB SD card with over 50GB of files including music, audiobooks and podcasts. Right now the Media Player shows them all in the same index and shuffling results in all 3 types playing at random. Choosing Browse/More/Audiobooks or Browse/More/Podcasts returns 'No content available'

Moving the file types to separate flash drives still results in all files in the same index.

1) Originally, I copied the files (mp3) from my iTunes library where they are properly indexed (in iTunes). I tried modifying the tags under Winamp. I changed both the Genre and the Category tags to both show as Audiobook or Podcast. I also found a tag that said 'Is Podcast' which I turned on. The Media player still shows the podcasts and the Audiobooks in the same list as the music files. Does anyone know what tag I need to modify to get the Media Player to correctly identify these files?

2) I converted the iTunes playlists to m3u files, but the Media Player does not find them. Do these files need to be in a specific directory? Right now they are in the root.

I noticed the playlists show the file address based on the Windows format, including a logical drive. Could this be the problem? Dos anyone know what address format I should use to find these files on the SD card?

My desire is to remove my Android phone from the picture as I don't have the capacity on the phone to include all these files. The truck is the only place where I listen to audiobooks and podcasts. Am I expecting too much from this player?
