Fuel Pump Pressure

Recommended Posts

Hi gang, I'm a streetrodder who purchased a 2014 rollover/wrecked GMC Sierra w/9K miles so I could pull the 5.3L engine/xmission and put in my 1936 Ford streetrod. I understand that the Sierra has 2 fuel pumps, one low pressure in the tank and one high pressure in the engine block which runs off the cam. I have to buy a new gas tank anyway for my 36 Ford and I need to know how much pressure the fuel pump must support in the tank. I can't find the info anywhere.

Thks,

Gary

I remember reading something regarding high/low fuel pressure on Lingenfelter's message board. Here is the link (post #7): http://www.lingenfelter.com/LPEforumfiles/showthread.php?2249-L83-related-component-images

During testing of the vehicle, we recorded fuel pressure levels in the high pressure side of the system of 426 psi to 2200 psi. Fuel pressure in the low pressure (lift pump) side of the system ranged from around 40 to 90 psi averaging between 46 to 55 psi depending on the test.
