Semi auto assist trigger for the AR

Recommended Posts

There are a couple of companies making trigger groups like these now for the AR platform. I like them, but to be honest, I would be willing to bet that you could get close to these speeds with the ALG ACT + some light springs, and a little polishing work.

I haven't brought myself to spend over $100 on a trigger group yet and that is because of the ALG ACT. It is accurate and faaaast!

Don't waste your money on that trigger. Do yourself a favor and practice, you'll speed up as you learn proper technique.

You can also get much better triggers for less $$$. It doesn't matter how fast you can pull the trigger, accuracy is what counts.

I already run a 2 stage match in one of my lowers. It's either a 3 or 4lb pull and is great for shooting 300 yards and such. I was looking at this trigger for other reasons.

I haven't seen another trigger that operates like the taccon. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the trigger actually resets requiring the shooter to pull again. Or you can just hold pressure on the trigger and continuously fire... that's how I understand it.

It definitely has to reset and then pull again. It basically has an almost non-existent break and reset, so it feels like its auto. You probably don't have to move the finger much, but it's a different pull or it would be a class 3 item for sure.

If you watch the vid, you can see him pulling the trigger. I think the ALG ACT if set up right would run just as fast.

It looks like you can keep a light pull on the trigger to get the rapid fire burst. However, your finger must release the trigger for a reset. So it's more like a bump fire.

That takes the cool factor down a bit.

I run that trigger in my duty weapon, and my personal AR's and it's a great trigger for the money.

There are far too many people that get caught up in this gimmick crap, like this overly priced trigger in the OP. Things like that are not practical in real life situations, definitely not safe seeing the reset, and are marketed toward the guys who want to seem cool to their buddies. Get a good, proven trigger and practice, practice, practice, you'll get to where you want to be.

Check out Travis Haley running the 1-5 drill with a BCM carbine on youtube. Doesn't get much faster than that with any trigger. He got there through practice, not with a gimmicky unsafe trigger system.

Damn. That's impressive. That's what happens when your career is to shoot.

I don't have that luxury. Example: I've been playing guitar for 25 years. I still don't play like SRV, close, but no cigar. If I did I wouldn't be a lighting guy.

Well hell.

I'll just work with what I have and see what results I can gain. Should be entertaining.

You can always take some very fine grit paper or a light buffing wheel on a dremel and smooth out the surfaces that make contact with each other. This will definitely help with the reset, but you can take it too far. The key in doing that is to just smooth the top of the disconnector a bit, buff, apply some good lube, then test and repeat as necessary. I also recommend a good trigger lube. I use KG 5 on all my personal rifles and any that I build.
