K&N intake install 5.3l

Recommended Posts

well i just got my K&N intake the other day and i finally got a chance to install it today! woo everything went pretty easy here are the pics i got

first i want to note that the only thing i needed that wasnt on the list was some wire cutters. you have to trim the rubber seal that goes around the heat shield and theres a thin piece of metal through the whole thing so i didnt want to damage my knife trying to use that so i just found a pair of cable cutters i had lying around from a previous job. and also i used a 10mm wrench with a ratcheting box end. that wasnt required but it made the job easier.

this is where the old filter box used to be. it came out pretty easy just need to give it a good pull and itll pop off. theres two rubber grommets on the filter tray that holds them down so just yank it and itll come off. then pull it out

the new heat shield. the rubber seal on the outside was easy to just press on but then you have to trim the end off. just need some kind of wire cutters or something. theres a thin piece of metal in the seal. i had a pair of cutters used for the cables youd see in cable tv or something and they worked good enough

line up the threaded holes in the adapter with the holes in the heat shield and bolt it in. use the bolts and lock washers and regular washers
