2006 Silvy RH Rear Door Glass Latch

I have an extended cab 2006 Silverado. There is an air leak at the right rear window area. if I barely push out on the glass the noise gets louder. run my hand over the top glass area and it feels like that is where the wind noise is coming from. the latch does not really snap open or closed like my other Silverado.

I M THINKING THE LATCH HAS LOST ITS STRENGHT AND TENSION TO KEEP THE GLASS AIR TIGHT. Are these replaceable by them selves or whole glass?

S10 I had was the entire glass. am I going to be bumming? I am in WA state and it never rains here ha ha. Want to prevent leaks.

Appreciate some guidance and suggestions.

Glue it shut, problem solved. I had the body shop do it since they do such a clean job you can't even tell it's glued.

I'd probably do that with mine since it'll never get opened. Any idea what glue was used on yours Danny?

Even if it does get opened, gluing it works well. If you have people open it they rarely remember to close it.

You can try to bend where the latch attaches, but it's usually just a temporary fix.

My body guy actually removed the window from the hardware, put adhesive on the rubber, then taped the window on til it dried. That's how he got it so clean. But you could still get a very good seal without undoing anything. I'll ask him what he used tomorrow if I get a chance. It's black professional strength adhesive of some kind, maybe similar to the goop they attach windshields with?

So I take it the latch itself is not replaceqble since I dea was to glue shut. Bummer. Will look into it at the local body shops. thanks.

We use uerathane, have glued a couple shut and the only way to open again is to cut the urethane.

There is a seller on ebay that makes longer rear window latch arms. They essentially pull the window tighter. I installed one on the passenger side rear of my truck. Big pain in the ass but it worked. I'll try to find the link for ya. Not cheap but it works.

thanks it looks like the link says it takes 5 minutes. Well knowing me it will take all day. lol Cheaper than 300 to replace the window. so it works well then and the product is solid.

I think I used zip ties on my around the connection to tighten it up on my 02 EC. That pulled the glass in, but the frame would flex & still allow some noise. I was having the windshield changed & he popped EC door cover off to show me how the frame flexed. I guess some new epoxy may have held the frame in place & helped the noise, but I never did since my son got the truck soon after. Windshield man said he would just seal the window shut with window sealant. Black stuff in red tube. Urethane not necessary since clip is holding most of the pressure.

I can attest that the longer arms are nice. They are very sturdy. I only installed the passenger side one. It was a huge pain in the ass but it helped tighten up the seal on that window and completely killed the wind noise.

I highly suggest examining the longer arm when you get it and look at how it might fit prior to taking the old one out. There are tabs that fit into little holes on the existing mounts. Be very careful with the existing mount and do no break it. Possibly use a heat gun very slowly to warm up the plastic so it is more manageable.

looked at the latch today and it swivels on the glass. seems loose. is that normal for those? Body shop thought the latch was too loose. Still thinking on those longer arms. but not much longer than stock. it makes that much difference
