Recommended Posts

Started this to talk about the new transmission and 6.2L

post pics of your new trucks and any concerns or topics you like to start

so far really happy with my white diamond Denali 2015

would like to see a video of a drag race head to head of old 2014 vs new 2015 just to lay to rest the topic of is the 3.23 gears terrible. yes the 3.42 will do much better than the 3.23 in the 8 speed but in the 6 speed is there a difference

heres my 2015 GMC Sierra Denali

tonneau cover coming in next week or 2, got a LEER 550

Old 6 vs New 8 speed in a drag race......? This would no doubt go to the driver cutting the best light, but I believe the "OLD" 6 speed./3.42 combo would have the gear to catch up if driver wasn't totally asleep. Drag races of equal vehicles are won/lost at the starting line.

I just picked up my 2015 Sierra 1500 Denali on Nov 5th. 6.2 with 8 speed (I placed my order mid September). I'm probably not the best person for comparisons though because it's my first truck (been a car person until now). I do notice some hesitataion going from 1st to 2nd gear when I drive normal, but after that, everything is smooth. When I lay into the gas, theres absolutely no hesitation. I have just over 600 miles on it so far and i've been averaging 14.8 mpg (equal amount city and highway driving).

The only mods i'm currently looking at is a leveling kit and i'm replacing the dull fender flares with OEM painted fender flares. For such an expensive truck with all the chrome they put on it, i'm surprised they put the dull plastic fender flares and not the painted fender flares.

i agree idk why denali that isn't standard with most 6.2L being at least 55k plus

with no escalade EXT they should do a little more sprucing up on the trucks like the fender flares painted and standard 22's and if you want 20's give a credit back.. But yeah i love mine too and the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st is slightly rough but not harsh

540 miles with 13.5 MPG avg probably more city than highway but in the city i average 13 so i say this truck is really good on gas compared to any other truck

turn off traction control i noticed the truck to be quicker with shifts and take offs when you punch the gas

Thanks for the tip, i'll try turning the traction control off.

I definitely agree about sprucing up the Denali. For roughly the same price, Ford offers the Limited Edition F-150 with 22 inch rims and power steps standard.

I'm now on my 3rd tank of gas (I'm getting just over 400 miles per tank when I fill up, about 22ish gal per fill up). I'm averaging about 18.4 MPG with city, highway and mountain driving. I've noticed that I have a hard shift from 1st to 2nd but only when the truck is still warming up, once warm I cannot even tell when the truck is shifting unless I'm watching the tach, its that smooth. What octane gas are you guys using? I use only 91 (best we can get here in CO) but I learned from my Camaro that these engines really need the high octane to function properly.

Um, why? They can advertise a lower price point. Why not just pay the upgrade if you want 22's? Many don't being a truck, they would prefer more sidewall.

13 is really good? That is worse than the city epa rating, pretty sure our old 6.0 AWD Denali XL with a 4 spd and no AFM beat that...

I'm 325 miles into about a 500 mile trip, a healthy mix of highway and downtown Chicago city traffic (6.2L / 8 Spd), combined trip mileage of 20.6. Should be above 21 by the time I get home (all highway remaining)

The must be selling a bunch more Denali's since the stopped with the AWD and added engine and colour options.
