I have a question for yall, maybe somebody would know. The day we purchase our truck, shouldn't the navigation be up to date from the date of purchase? There seems to be a lot of addresses that can not be found, even addresses that have been there for at least 3 years.

Good question. I wonder the same thing myself. I feel like the 2014 map is woefully out of date.

2014 has either Q1 or Q2 (I can't remember off the top of my head) 2012 Map Data.

I was told that when we bring our trucks in for service they can flash the computer with the updated maps for free.

Nope.

$160 is a helluva lot to pay for something I feel we should get for free for paying as much as we did for the nav package upgrade.

I had a Pioneer Nav unit in a previous vehicle, and every year they would offer new map updates for like $300 for the discs. And every year folks would pirate them joints on bittorrent.

The way things are looking with the factory, I'm waiting for a decent aftermarket Apple or Android product to take their market away. GTFOOHWTBS. Support your customers or watch us jump ship to better options.

This is why i will never get a factory nav system. A plug in Garmin works just as good if not better with lifetime free updates.

I do the same and just a Garmin for $88 with free maps. Garmin never failed me and I have it on all the time because I like the speed limit sign and distance from each location. Plus the fact if you don't travel too much or don't need it for business etc. there is really no need for it to get you to the mall, stores etc. in your location. GPS sales are down this year.

Garmin maps also have lag delays in getting road changes into the map sets. Lifetime updates is a great feature, but it does not mean that the updates will have all the road changes included.

Most of the updates you get are mostly new housing development etc. which not too many people need right away or never use at all.

Out of all the options purchased on my Sierra the navigation package was the the worst value of all. It sucks and after using it only I couple times I went back to using my Garmin or my phone...........
