Tow mirror wiring

Recommended Posts

So I have a 2001 Silverado 2500HD with the power/heated mirrors and I installed 2006 Silverado tow mirrors. I need help wiring the new mirrors. The drivers side has these wires. gray/black, black/white, two black wires, orange/black, white and it looks like either tan or red.

The passenger side is brown, two black wires, gray/black, blue/white, orange/black and white. If someone could tell me what each wire is for I would be very blessed.

I think if no one posts a wiring key you will have to figure it out trail and error.

One pair will be for the heated mirror glass.

One pair will be for the LED turn signal light

Three wire will be for the mirror motors. There are two motors; up/down & left/right. They share a common lead.

My guesses (use at your own risk)

The two blacks are for mirror glass heat

gray/black & black/wire; gray/black & brown are the turn signal

Last three wires left will be the motors. My guess is the white would be the common wire.

I would test with a battery and test leads. If both motors run at the same time, you found the leads to each motor and they are in series. You just need to find the common for the motors then. Think of it as Lead to motor-motor-common lead-motor-lead to motor. If the motors both run you are connected to the lead to motor wire at each motor.

Sorry I was not much help. Good luck
