'15 Denali and iPhone 6 and text messages

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a '15 Sierra Denali, and am having trouble getting my texts to show up on the screen. I have the text icon at the home screen, but I can't ever get any messages to show up. When I use the same phone in my BMW it works perfectly(emails come through as well). Any help getting this to work is really appreciated.

Thanks,

H

Settings / bluetooth / click the "i" icon next to your truck connection under My Devices / slide the "show notifications" to on. I had to do this in my Sierra. But, I noticed while I am driving the texts notify me but I can only choose the "listen" option on the text. If I am parked or stopped I can read the text on the screen. Must be a safety feature?

Thank you jack, hahaha.

fondupot, this is in regards to linking your iPhone to the truck through Bluetooth. I think that you can do that on the 2014's too right?

I was told today buy a salesman at my dealer that he thinks that if you don't have this feature they should be able to do an update so you will

Who knows how true that is tho.

Hi Hector,

Sorry for the difficulty having your text show up on the screen. It's good to see other members on the forum to provide their input and advice. In addition, feel free to reach out to Infotainment Customer Support if you have questions in the future. They're a great resource for vehicle technology related concerns. They can be contacted at (855) 478-7767.

gSwift, I hope these pictures will help you out a little bit more. These are from my iPhone 6+ running iOS 8.1. This is my first iPhone so I am unsure if the Bluetooth settings look different on an older version of iOS. *These instructions are based on the assumption that you have already connected your phone to your truck via Bluetooth.*

Oh your Phone:

Go to Settings > Find Bluetooth and click on it. (also, make sure that Bluetooth is on)

In the Bluetooth settings you will see your truck under MY DEVICES, click on the "i" icon

This will bring up the settings that the phone has for your truck. Now you can slide "Show Notifications" to on so that your phone will send SMS messages to your truck.

I am not sure if any other messages are sent via Bluetooth. I have an app called GroupMe that is for group chatting, and those notifications do not appear and the sound doesn't go off either. But i feel my phone vibrate still haha.

On the truck, once you have already connected your device to it via Bluetooth, you have to set the Text Alerts to On.

If you have SMS Text on your truck, you will see it at the home screen (unless you have edited your icons) and you will click on it.

That will open up the SMS screen, click on the Settings at the far right and make sure that Text Alerts are set to ON.
