New truck paint issues

Was out of town this weekend and bought a new 2014 Sierra Crew cab z71 Stealth Gray. When i got home and washed it found the the roof was scratched up all over and found a dent in the front fender. I know i should have looked over the truck better than i did but who thinks to look at the roof of a brand new truck when the rest looks fine. The scratches seem to be just in the clear coat for the most part.

Any one have any advice on how to handle this, i have called the dealership and am waiting on them to call me back. I never would have bought the truck if i had saw the roof before hand.

Dealer called back and gave me the number of a local bodyshop to contact to have it fixed. Went by and had them look at it and they recommended i hand polish it and bring it back if i couldn't get the scratches out after the holiday.

Spent 4 hours with scratch remover and compound and got most of the surface scratches out and minimized the deeper ones. Will put a 2nd coat of wax on and see how it turns out tomorrow..

Besides the paint issues love the truck but learned my lesson buying a truck 6 hours from home without a thorough inspection.

Hand polishing will only do so much. Look for a good detailer who can machine polish it, bet they'll come all the way out.

Bought my High Country and found 3 dents in the passenger side of the bed about 2 days after getting it home. You can only see them if you're looking at the bed just right in the sun. I chalked it up to me not looking the truck over before buying it and never did anything. I bet next time I buy a truck I spend more time inspecting it before signing papers.

I had my truck about a week and parked it in a parking lot when I came back some birds had a party on my engine hood there was bird crap all over it and there claws had left scratches in the clear coat,I spent about 2 hours polishing them out and it looked like new when I was done ,I was real happy because the last thing I wanted to do was get it repainted.

I was getting some new wheels installed at the GMC dealer (warranty) and was walking around the parking lot looking at cars and trucks to kill time. Saw a car carrier pull in so I moseyed over to see what they were dropping off. Couple trucks and SUV's. Little while later I saw 2 GMC techs looking at the roof of a GMC Acadia. I casually asked a salesman who was nearby what was going on and he said, !@#$%^& truck driver said he turned down a residential street (lost) and some tree branch's scratched the Acadia Denali and 2 others that were on the top tier. Said the shipping company insurance pays for that. Truck driver was just standing there waiting to be released.
