driveline whine

Recommended Posts

Have an 02 Olds Bravada AWD....135000 miles. A whine has developed in my driveline. (errrr) .........Only when I let off the gas. Quiet when accelerating. Trans shifts fine....Where do I start to look? Thanks

You are looking some cash to fix this on a 12 yr old truck , chassis ears is the only way to find what diff is about to go BOOOOM !!!!!

Decision time , fix it or sell it for a dollar cuz it's worth nothing now

Phewwww....... this sucks....

Thanks for all your help..

Yup it does, the way it works is that they find the diff , take it apart, and provide an estimate for repair ,

That is how it's done plain and simple , if some shop offers anything different than that process ,,,, drive away , it is the cheapest way to have a complicated gear set to be repaired .

also if say a t case is removed and estimated for a customer that there is sevear damage , an estimate is provided for replacement of the t case with a rebuilt unit because it's cheaper that the hard parts to fix the original case ,,,

This goes for automatic transmissions as well and engines , it's the only way IMO

I may have done a few while I was in the red oil lmao

We had an 03 burb in a techs bay .R/F axle seal leaking , some dumb tech not paying attn let the washer at the end of the r/f axle shaft slide down

Upon reinstalling r/f axle shaft tube assy which managed to actually go together somehow, the shift collar was never to engage the shaft again and destroyed the little weeee bearing in the small shaft end ,

All that crap went thru the diff wrecking every tapered bearing and 2 hard parts (shafts )

Poof the the diff is to expensive for the truck to live another day not to mention the crap on the engine drain plug lol

1 more POS out of the fleet lol( they are used for exercises here on base )lol

Every time we get rid of a truck I giggle lol

Thought I'd share
