New Denali owner in Cincinnati

VETTE GUY

Recommended Posts

Hi folks. Great forum you have here. New to this forum but not GMC trucks. I have 3000 miles on my 2014 1500 Denali 6.2L and I wish I could say I love it but I am not there yet. One of the things I am trying to find out is how or if level/lift kits effect warranty. I have noticed that many people have dealer installed level and lift kits. My dealer does not trust his techs to install a simple 2" leveling kit and was not exactly clear on how it might effect warranty. Does anyone know for sure? Does GM have an official position on this? Input from a GM rep would be nice.

Thanks for your time.

Welcome

If a suspension component wears out early the dealer could deny based on the level kit. I would ask your particular dealer their thoughts. Some are sticklers and some arent. There havent been to many issues running them. I have had mine on for about 40K now, I did have a tie rod go bad due to a ripped boot, I was already out of warranty so I didnt deal with the dealer.

I see your name is vette guy, what do you have?

Thanks for the input. I was hoping to know if GM has a position rather then having it decided at the dealer level. After all it is the manufacturer's warranty. I will probably go ahead with a 2" level for now and maybe when warranty is out go higher. I only have one Vette right now. It's the first one I bought about 25 years ago. A nice original 1985 with 13K miles.

Welcome my fellow Ohioan.

Thanks. Go Bengals???

Welcome, I had a '85 once. I have had a 58,60,62,65,69,72,75,85,01 Corvettes. My 60 was actually in Vette magazine back in October 01. It was on the cover too. However, out of all of my Vettes, I too only own my first one, my '72.

It is currently being restored.

I too am new to the board, but I bought a 2014 Denali a couple months ago. I'm in Grove City (south of Columbus) just an hour from Cincy. We get down there at least a couple times a year between soccer tournaments and concerts.

Nice to hear from you. I bought my last GMC 2500 HD from Hadocy in Columbus. They treated me well. Are you getting any vibration and resonance from your truck? Just wondering. I know this is discussed in other threads. Have not talked to dealer yet about it.

You know, this truck is my first full sized pickup truck. So I have no frame of reference for what is considered normal vibration. I don't think I'm getting any of the trouble people keep talking about... just a slightly bouncy ride. I pretty much expect that from a truck with, if I understand correctly, the Z71 package is included in the Denali level trucks. So I guess a little bounce is to be expected? I'll have to pay attention closer to see if I notice any issues. I'm taking my first long road trip in my truck tomorrow. I do have the Goodyear tires on the 20" rims that seem to have a lot of complaints.

Hadocy is a pretty good dealership. My wife and I have purchased 4 vehicles from them now. Fortunately, I haven't needed to use the service department for anything but routine/easy fix stuff, but for that level of stuff I can say they're great. :-)
