Crank Position Sensor wiring....

dave in kelsey

Question

Good Evening, ...well, not really

While wrestling with the starter to get it back in to the bell housing, the wires came out of the connector for the crank position sensor. (stripped them right out)

I'm praying there is an aftermarket plug that will match the sensor. The schematic I have has the three wires labeled however I can't tell the positioning compared to the plug. Worse case... do I have to buy a new wiring harness?

I pulled the plug apart and it looks like I might be able to solder the wires, but I still need to know the wire positions.

Forget the GD aftermarket , go to GM and ask if that pigtail is available . It should be

Do a proper connection to truck harness , remove plastic from butt connector, insert shrink tube to wire , insert wire , crimp with a crimper that has a pointed portion instead of a curved crimper , solder it and shrink tube the connection

That is a perfect connection ,

Do it right ,

My wife went to the dealer and got a connector that matches the one that broke. Unfortunately, the three wires coming out of the plug are not color coded the same as the Crank Sensor. It seems to be a generic replacement. I'm going to trust the schematic and connect the wires as shown with the ground yellow/black/ Ref Low to the right or bottom of the plug depending on the perspective. The replacement part did come with connectors, but no heat wrap tape.
