Question

Hi,

I've driven both the Colorado CC & Extended cab & find the ride similar.

I've been reading up on Tonneau covers & will order a Fold-a-Cover after I get ny new Colorado in a couple months. I can't actually order it since the Laser blue is on hold until late Jan for the dealers to order.

Any "must have" accessories I should look for?

Do NOT get one without the towing package... IF it comes with the towing package from the manufacturer it comes with the automatic locking rear diff (which works really well). If the dealer claims they will install the towing package for you, be carefull as it probably doesn't have the locking diff. from what I found out before buying my truck was 90% of the 4x4's DO NOT come with the locking diff, unless they came built with the tow package.. Apparaently GM feels that a standard 4x4 doesn't need the locking diff to help with traction as you can just put it in 4x4. IMO id rather not have to be in and out of 4x4 all the time to avoid one wheel wonder blasting gravel at my boat when in gravel... the locking diff provides plenty of traction and works every time... Every z71 does however have the good diff. Some things can be modified later, or upgraded, however a diff is a really big job, and would cost way way to much on a new vehicle..... Also the Tow/Haul mode works absolutely awesome and would recommend having that too... I have a z71 with hd tow package and the optional factory electric brake controller and I pull around a 20ft bass boat and a race car on a hauler with it weekly.. even if you don't plan to tow or haul regularly, its a truck man, the day you do want to hook up to something you'll be wishing you had these options.. maybe not the electric brake controller but absolutely the locking diff and factory tow package with tow/haul mode, frame welded hitch, tranny cooler and locking rear diff!

hope this helps

Extang trifecta is a great cover. Had the handle break on me from one of my kids standing on it, and extang replaced it no questions asked. Was very happy with my vinyl cover, but think I'll look into a hard cover for my new Canyon.

I have a 2003 Sonoma. I wish I had limited slip differential for snow and camping on hilly wet ground. I would also get the new 3.6L V6 for trailer towing and the trailer towing package with 2" receiver. If you want a top get a fiberglass cap instead of a cover. The bed is to low to get things like tubs in and out easily. Get a rubber mat to help things from sliding around. Its a truck so expect paint scratches in the bed as ware and tear. Unfortunately GM makes you buy things in packages. The only other things I would want is cruse control for long rural Interstate driving and power mirrors for multiple drivers. You should be able to easily install power mirrors as a aftermarket item. Cruise control I not that sure of because the controls are usually in the steering wheel.
