8.1/Allison Option

How much did the 8.1 Allison combination add to the price of a new '01-07 truck? Looking at KBB or NADA it only adds $250-$275 to the value of a used truck. I'm looking at a used truck that is priced above KBB, but to me I think it's worth it with the 8.1/Allison.

New price doesn't really matter, but I don't think it was too much, especially compared to how much the diesel option cost.

It won't add much to the price now because people think they get poor mileage, but it's actually not that much worse than a 6.0. IMO well worth it, an 8.1 with the Allison goes like no tomorrow.

You are correct, it doesn't matter, just made me curious. Kind of like the long bed costing more when new, then worth less on a used truck.

It's funny because I did not see any D Max or 8.1 Ally combos that were "stand alone" options, so it was just like my truck but had those two engine/tran options. All of the ones I say had the LT package and options, so the "options" all added up to cost 10-14+thousand more than my truck. If I would have come across a truck just like mine but with a D Max or 8.1 for 24k or 26.5k I would have snatched it up, but they were all in the 33k-45+k range back in late 2006.
