hey guys, ive got an 09 sierra 1500 5.3, i was tlaking to a fella with an 08 sierra 1500 5.3 and he said hes got a k&n cold air intake for sale. so i checked online to see if it was the same thing, i assumed it was being that 07-13 is essentially the same truck, but it lists a different part number for 07-08 and 09-13. any idea if itll fit or if it can be made to fit without much hacking of things? im posting before using the search button in hopes to get a quick response as this is a bit of a time sensitive purchase for me.

can anyone confirm that? i tried to find pictures of the engine bays for both year trucks with the same motor and both looked similar and the air intakes looked pretty much identical too. and of course everyone uses a generic picture of an air intake on their website

ok i was looking at those on rock auto and trying to figure out what the difference with them was as well, appreciate the up close pics you were able to find. doesnt seem like it would be too hard to make it fit at all if thats the only difference. thanks for the help bud

ahh ok, see that makes sense then, i thought it was just two different sized holes or to different ways they mount. still it should be easy enough to just drill a hole and get rid of that older style maf and bypass that section. ill have to wait for a picture of this intake to get an idea of what im dealing with. thanks for the help bud, appreciate it

Cold air intakes are basically a waste of money, they look good, but generate little to no horsepower gains.

If you want more induction of air into your engine, consider supercharging it.

So when your vehicle was on the dyno with the hood open, did you have a giant fan in front of the vehicle, simulating going into a head wind @ 100+ mph?

Unless you are traveling @ 75+ miles an hour into the wind, the cold air intakes OFFER LITTLE TO NO INCREASE IN POWER, that is just the facts.

I like the colors in your graph, other than that, the info is useless.

Not sure I get your point here..

If the head wind is simulated during the stock run and the same headwind is simulated during the modded run, would the colors be any different?

Or... Are you saying that the numbers in horsepower gain would be even more if a headwind was present??

Some people are so full of crap it exits their ears. Believe the info or not, I don't care. I noticed a seat of the pants difference with the MIT, and no other changes.
