Chevrolet is bringing back the Custom Sport. Last seen on the generation of Chevy pickups launched in 1967, the Custom Sport helped fuel the adoption of trucks as a daily driver outside the work site. The new 2015 Silverado Custom Sport is targeted towards owners who want an upscale, sophisticated and monochromatic look.

Here's what the 2015 Custom Sport will offer:

  • Available on LT and LTZ double-cab and crew-cab models
  • LT trim will be available in only black or white
  • LTZ trim will be available in black or White Diamond Tricoat
  • The package costs between $1,950 and $2,950, depending on trim and model

  • Dealers can start placing orders this month (January 2015)

"The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s, said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. "Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado"

So...they took the same Custom Sport package as 2014, but reduced the color choices down to 2, and then added a bunch of body colored stuff to it.

includes (AQC) Appearance Package, (V76) recovery hooks, (TC7) body-color grille with chrome bars, (VB5) body-color front bumper, (VT5) body-color rear bumper, (CGN) spray-on bedliner and (RD2) 20" chrome wheels

2014 Custom Sport was :

1LT trim includes (DP6) body-color mirror caps, (D75) body-color door handles and 20" wheels. 1LZ trim includes chrome mirror caps, chrome door handles and 20" wheels

And was not color restricted.

Oooh! Here is an interesting package...

NEW! C/K 10, includes (RHO) 20" x 9" silver painted aluminum wheels, (QSS) P275/55R20 all-season, blackwall tires, (E20) chrome door handles and (DP9) chrome mirror caps

Available on LS trim (used to be 2WT) Double cab only.

I had a monochromed truck on my last Silverado. Never again. Loved the look, don't get me wrong on that. Loved it! But the painted front end was so dinged up from rocks in the road from normal driving, it was ugly in no time. Glad I have the chromed front end now because of that. No paint dings!
