A few minor problems with my just-picked-up 2015

Recommended Posts

2011 trucks had rear drum brakes which made the brakes feel more responsive.

My 2011 didn't have rear drum brakes, and neither did my last couple of GM trucks before that.

It depends on your trim level. Lower trim levels had rear drum breaks. Upper trim levels got you rear disc breaks. This is for the GMT900's. The K2 trucks have disc breaks at all trim levels now.

???? Since when do drums feel more responsive than disc's???

Either style can be to small and either style can be in need of maintenance.

2011 Duramax trucks had discs all the way around. http://www.maxxtorque.com/2010/12/2011-duramax-lml-review-built-to-tow.html

IIRC, GM 1/2 tons had 4 discs for a while then went back to drums on rear then back to discs on rear

Correct. My 99 was 1st time GM put rear discs in the half-tons, IIRC. They were good, but I did have 1 stuck caliper replaced under warranty. Other than that, the truck was great. Another 1st year model truck I bought. Issues have been few and minor with each.
