$4,000.00 GM Points - 01/15 thru 03/15 2015

Recommended Posts

January 12, 2015.

Received the GM mail today.

My GM MasterCard points are topped off at $4,000.00 toward the purchase of any new GM vehicle 2014 and 2015. Other than the Corvette.

Make the best deal - then show the card.

Haha.... yeah I just talked to my sales guy at Hendrick Chevrolet this afternoon about the best deal on a new Z06.

"No discounts available"

What about GM points?

"No discounts available"

What about my employee discount?

"No discounts available"

Ok then.

"Other than the Corvette."

Stated in original post.

But for those in market for new GM vehicle. You can't beat this offer unless you have better ones.

Last year at this time it was $3,000.00 off mailed to me.

Funny about the skeptics.

I have a neighbor who buys a new full size GM truck every 3-4 years. And I touted the GM MasterCard to him.

His response: They already know that you have the points. He doesn't have any GM charge card or points.

Of course, impossible. As when I purchased my new 2010 Colorado. I used a fake name in all dealings until it came time to actually meet up with the finance office. So it is absurd that "they know".

Why a made up name in dealings? Because I visit multiple dealerships and I just don't want any constant continuous contacting me.

This offer is $4,000 in real money. After the best deal. For me so far.

Ok, so after you make your best deal... and I've seen 2014 Silverados on the lots for $9,000 discount below sticker, then $4,000 GM cash, plus $1,000 owner loyalty.

Wow... $14-GRAND.

I wish I had gotten that kind of a deal!

Yes, it can potentially be a good deal.

For me, I have the Capital One Card. As stated by Daryl above there are others.

And, for me anyway, the mailing comes beginning of January each year. Sometimes good for 30 days and sometimes good for 60 days.

January, probably is one of the slowest months.

And possibly, GM figures that the previous model year vehicles are all gone.

The Customer Loyalty usually kicks in also. And for me there are other discounts. USAA, AARP, Farm Bureau, Business Choice, etc.

It all adds up to real money.

Many years ago I had a GM card. I got a letter; buy a vehicle in the next 30 days because after that your "rewards cash" will be reduced to pennies on the dollar. I was not able to buy in 30 days and my over $2000 accumulated went to a couple of hundred. I did NOT renew the card.

I have both cards.

"There are several different cards available from car manufacturers that feature credit card rewards in the form of discounts on their next vehicle. While many of these cards have limitations on how much of a discount cardholders can claim, Capital One and GM have just introduced a new automotive rewards card that allows cardholders to earn unlimited rewards toward the purchase or lease of their next new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac.

How the New GM Card Works

Cardholders receive 5% back on their first $5,000 of annual purchases in the form of rewards dollars toward the purchase or lease of a new GM vehicle. After the cardholder’s first $5,000 of purchases each year, the rate of return is 2% with no limit and no expiration date. In contrast, the previous version of this card offered cardholders 5% back on all purchases, but limited discounts to a “redemption allowance” of $1,000 to $3,000 per vehicle."

Is the 5% back referring to points/dollars of purchases made toward a vehicle purchase? I've been getting my mail spammed by GM for the card ever since I bought the truck, but I haven't even opened any of the offers as I really don't want a credit card. I've been thinking about getting one though to save up points. If I get it I plan to just use it for normal purchases I'd regularly use my debit card for, then just pay it off before the months end with my bank account.

I never get that top off stuff. Have had the card for 10, 12, 15 years too. The only thing on mine currently is if $500 was charged on the card last fall they would throw $500 on in points that expires March 2nd.

The dealer doesn't know if you have points. I sold gm for 5 years, they would have to have your account number and or social to find that out. The gm card was just an added bonus on top of any deal you can work out.
