G'Day to all from Queensland, Australia. I have just joined this great forum…lots of good information here. I am about to buy/order my first Silverado 2500HD LTZ Duramax 6.6L TD. You guys (and gals) are so lucky in USA to buy these trucks so unbelievably cheap. By the time I pay all fees, taxes, GST, shipping costs and conversion to RHD mine will cost me about $130,000 (AUS)! (Weak $AUS does not help either). But to me its well worth it to get a good truck. My question is this the info I got says it was built after August 2014. What is the significance of that date? How does it differ from say a 2015 model built in say July 2014? Thanks for help. I may have more questions in the future. Cheers

PS Moderators I initially posted this at end of old post called "2014 Vs 2015 Silverados" before I realised it probably suits a new members post better. Please delete the first post if you wish.

Welcome to the site! It's always great to have a friend from another part of the world with us. You'll most likely get a better response to your specific questions in our 2014/2015 forums but feel free to ask around and good luck.

Please post photos when you get it. Not sure I've seen a new RHD Silverado yet.

Wow, that's dedication. These trucks aren't "World Class" and the RHD conversion incurs very high costs. Welcome on board!

HI Pos Vett, I am not sure what you mean about not being world class. What is an example of a world class truck? I did not go into this investment lightly but have done an enormous amount of research in the past 18 months. I also talked to every owner of any of the big three trucks I come across in our travels. I considered the Ford F250 and Dodge Ram 2500 as well. Based on my research and investigation I believe the Chevy Silverado is the best of the three ( I guess I am preaching to the converted here !) These three are the only ones of this size truck we can get converted to RHD in Australia. Whether they are world class I do not know but I believe all 3 of these trucks are a step up from the Toyota 200 series or Nissan Patrol which are very common tow vehicles in Australia. IN Australia about 80% of 4x4 vehicles used for towing caravans or 5th wheelers (trailers) are diesel. In some remote parts of outback Australia petrol (gas) is not available. Also extra diesel is safer to carry in jerry cans than petrol. So I definitely wanted diesel. I believe the Isuzu/Duramax diesel combined with the Allison transmission is a perfect combination and better than the Ford and Dodge offerings. Cheers and thanks for you comment.
