Dual automatic climate controls

SpecRacerDriver

Question

I have a 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE. I would like to add the Dual automatic climate controls. Does anyone know if you can add the Dual automatic climate controls to a air conditioned equipped standard climate control system by just changing out the control unit in the dash or are there additional servo units and/or controls/wiring needed? Or is it not even possible? Thank You for your interest.

Thank You Wisconsin, it was just a passing thought. I have already added the DIC buttons, fog lights, and trailer mirrors. Those were all plug and play type options, I was hoping the heater controls were also. Guess I will hang on to what I have that works.

Thanks Doug, I just jumped here from the roof light site. Mine is an SLE model, but I am not sure what you mean by '4 accessory gauges". Did you mean accessory 12V outlets? It has two accessory outlets in the dash now. Do you have a pic of yours that you can post? How is the weather up there anyway? We are getting freezing rain here in Ohio. Thanks again.

I was using the term "accessory" to mean not required. What I was referring to are the 4 gauges around the speedo and tach in the cluster. The W/T and SL models only have the two lower gauges, fuel and coolant temp. The SLE and SLT have the two upper gauges in place, one for oil pressure and the other for voltage I think, plus the same two lower gauges.

To go a bit further off topic here, had I spent some time actually looking at the two different models (SL and SLE) instead of listening to the salesman say that the SL was just a W/T with power windows and locks I would never have taken the SL. For the $1100 difference it was a lot more than just power windows and locks. Different centre front seat, the instrument cluster, rear seat in ExtCab is different, colour of dash is all one colour etc. The cluster is the one piece I want to change still. Just not the right time for me.

Winter here has been very light so far. I live alone and am mostly been confined to bed this year, so I don't get out much, but, I do know that no one has shovelled any snow for me this year yet. It has been not as cold either this year. There was a storm warning over the 4 or 5 days, but, it missed the Toronto area completely, and gave all our snow to the folks in the north east. There was that huge dump of snow that Buffalo area got around xmas time, we got nothing but video on the news about how bad it was not even 45 miles away.

Doug, sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hope you recover soon. I always wondered about if the winter weather in Canada was a lot worse than here in the states. I guess it just depends where you are and when as to how bad it can be.

My old 2003 1500 Sierra was an SLT model. It served me well but was a bit under powered for towing the 5th wheel. The 2012 SLE makestowing a lot easier. Take care of yourself my friend.

It requires quite a bit more than just swapping the controls. Not exactly sure which servos etc, but I do know you need the temp sensor in the headliner above the driver for one.

Do you have a SLE or SL? If you have the SL you have 2 accessory gauges in dash. Grab the cluster from a SLE and you have 4 accessory gauges. Does nothing for climate control question, this is more in line with your last post and the changes you made.
