Well the thing is that it doesn't show the years. The Gen 5 Camaro and the new K2 trucks have 5 star crash ratings (I think the K2s do, I know the Gen 5 Camaro do).

if I remember correctly, the years the IIHS Studied were from 2009-2012; and IN that Timeframe, MY Aveo was Built, Did its Stint in the Enterprise Rental Fleet, sold to Second Owner, and then finally sold to me in January of 2012.

I know a guy with a gen5 who got hit by a train and walked away. They are pretty safe cars

remember who did this study: the INSURANCE Institute for Highway Safety. but there IS a pattern in the list; The Top Five (which unfortunately includes my DD Aveo at #4) are ALL Subcompact cars. the Camaro and Silverado Crew Cab are outside of the Top Five.

Hmmmm, sad to see the gmt900 crew cab in there. I thought it got good ratings for crash testing? An eye opener for me was that trucks are the number one killer in single vehicle rollovers. There was a post about this awhile back. This is due to the weight of the truck and the cab just collapses when truck is on the roof. Mane that's why the gmt900 is on the list?

Be careful!

And something the article didn't address.... in accidents where one of these vehicle had a run in with a heavy commercial truck, 80% of the time the smaller vehicle driver was at fault. Clear DOT stats. So they died because of something they did and not the big truck operator. Not a good idea to try and take on an 80,000 lb truck. No sir. You will lose every time.
