Lock cylinders won't work

Recommended Posts

Well on my 04 silvy the drivers side key will go in all the way but won't turn also the tailgate cylinder won't go in at all... It seems like it has gunk in the lock, is there an easy fix to these problems or should I buy new cylinders and go to a lock smith

I don't want to get locked out of my truck if the battery or the fob dies (I only have one fob)

I have taken carb cleaner and put the straw in the cylinder and sprayed it a couple of times to clean it out and then sprayed some WD-40 in there and after a day or so put some grease in there. It gets kinda messy so have som rags handy. Also how wore out is your key?

They key is fine, I also had 2 keys made that work in the ignition but the original key is the factory gm key. I'll try the car cleaner but I already did the wd40 and nothing happened, but now the wd-40 won't spray because it's too cold outside haha

Thanks for the advice
