2015 Tahoe LTZ Driver Seat Pain from Sensors

Recommended Posts

Had my new 2015 Tahoe LTZ for about 5 weeks and for a few weeks now have been feeling a pressing in the back of my thighs/rear. Tried adjusting the seat many times.

It is the lane departure sensors in the seat base that seem to be mounted too high, with not enough padding on top of them. Both the right and left side are super uncomfortable.

Took it to Silver Star in Thousand Oaks, CA. Service tech hopped in and felt them right away.

Awaiting repair but not optimistic..

Anyone have similar problem?

Purchases a 2500hd a couple of months ago and the sensors are making for a painful ride. Had the dealer take a look at it and they told me they replaced the padding. Same pain same issue after repair, I will be taking it back once again looking for some resolution

kevin4167 - there is a problem with the sensors being mounted too high, a better option would be to recede the sensors versus applying more padding. Once the padding wears down, the problem will return. This is a new truck and they've tried the padding, resolution should be to have those jokers recede the sensors or replace the seat.

The Zip i agree with you completely, adding more padding to the top of the sensor just means you will feel it sooner ! I am trying to get them to understand that thought process but it seems they cannot grasp the concept. I am heading back to the dealer for the 2nd time for this issue i was just wondering if anyone else had encountered the same thing. I can truthfully say it is a pain in my A$$ !!!

Call me a fool I'm on my 2nd 15 LTZ suburban. the first one had more issues than we have time. I was told by the dealer that the units built after 10-15 had all the fixs. The wind noise on the drivers side window, the fluttering and the drivers seat where not fixed. My last 15 they tightened the seat replaced the pad added a thicker pad none of those things fixed it. And none the new one after driving for an hour you find yourself slidding down in the seat so u don't have metal bumps pressing against your leg. The dealers have no fixes and Chevy doesn't get back to you

I recently had my silverado in for service on the heated seats and when I got it back I had this problem. I flipped up the seat cover with the padding and found these sensors incorrectly re-installed. I moved them around and that fixed it. Hope this helps.

Silverstar Chevrolet Thousand Oaks, CA called and said that they cannot find anything wrong with the sensor. Service Advisor and Shop Foreman said that they cannot feel the sensors. Haa, what a joke. I have had 5 different people sitting in the drivers seat, all that can feel the sensor protruding up. 175+ pounds and up...

quimby4 - did you make contact with the Service Manager and tell him that his personnel are wrong. It does happen, especially if they don't know what they are looking for. I would suggest you tell him that the seat is defective and you want another seat. If that doesn't work, ensure you give them an appropriate performance feedback and look for another dealership. There's plenty of dealerships around your area, I would think Thousand Oaks would provide better service, they have a big operation just off the 101.

I have a 2015 Escalade, and suffered deep bruising from the vibratory motors in the seat (lane departure). The dealer took apart the seat and I investigated the issue with the technician. Why do some GM in 2015 ( Tahoe, Escalade Platinum) not hurt when I sit in these vehicles?

1) The side bolstering /padding is much taller than my escalade seat version.

2) The sensors are about finger length and are wider across than they are tall. If inserted into the foam 'slot' sideways, they stand up about 1/14 inches tall. If rotated to minimize height, they are about 3/4 inch tall. THIS COULD BE THE DIFFRENCE. FACTORY INSTALL VARIANCE.

3) The sensors in the 2015 Tahoe APPEAR to be smaller. I photoed the seat with heavy finger pressure outlining the sensor, it seems to be about 30% smaller.

4) The design is bush league at best. The sensors are tucked into a slot. NOT bolted/clipped into a receiver in the seat frame ( Underneath the seat frame would completely solve the issue) THIS IS PROFESSIONAL GRADE? FLOATING PRTS THAT MOVE?

Anyway, I am working with my dealer, who is very concerned and helpful with this, and I will see what they have come up with today... I see no easy solution

Does anyone know WHO MAKES THE SEATS? Would be great to chat with the engineers.

Any updates yet? Kevin4167?

Mine is in the shop. The dealer moved the sensors lower and added padding but I could still feel them.

They are removing them, leaving hooked up and securing under the seat as others have done. Foreman said the sensor are pretty big and on a short harness which makes moving them very difficult. I am hopeful that in the next year GM will come out with a service bulletin to repair this.

A vehicle out of warranty, yeah remove the sensors and secure them under the seat. A brand new 70K vehicle, man they would have to replace my seat or else those sensors would have been wrapped around someone's head. I guess I'm too old school, straightforward, and expect folks to stand by their product. As long as you're good with that...

quimby4 I am still waiting on a GM rep to contact the Dealership as they say there is nothing more they can do, this is by far the most uncomfortable seat i have had the privilege to ride in. I will update when some sort of resolution is reached hopefully soon.

Update: My seat is fixed!!

Silverstar Chevrolet in Thousand Oaks, CA moved the lane departure sensor bars to the far back of the seat cushion where I cannot feel them. The vibration feels different and is a little more audible but it don't care, the bars are not digging in the back of the legs/butt. I think they are at the back of the cushion near where the seat base cushion intersects the seat back. I feel the vibration around my tailbone.

Shop Foreman Jaime worked to try to find a solution, in conjunction with Service Director Dominic.

I hope this information helps someone else.
