Ok folks,

IAW mileage calculator, traction control uses more gas. So my question is if anyone know what can be done to the computer settings to set it where it won't turn on the traction control when the truck's engine is started? There has to be a way...

We ol's guys sometimes forget to turn off. Lol

Would love to know this about stabillitrack and preventing it from turning back on at 25mph after I turn it off. It's super irritating in the snow. I don't mind having to manually turn it off each time, but jesus stay off when I tell you to.

Can't be done; fundamental modification must be done. There are at least two large threads about this issue. I've been in contact with one of the representatives and according to the representative, a GM inside source said Stabilitrak operation cannot be changed whatsoever by GM. Trust me, I'm pissed about this myself.

Now, if only someone could tell me where the yaw rate sensor is, I'd be a guinea pig ;)

The yaw rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration sensors are combined into one multi-axis acceleration sensor, internal to the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module. Located

in the passenger compartment, under the floor covering between the front seats

Yup, we do it to the Corvettes all the time. It's called an ATI TracMem. Sold by ATI Motorsports ($120) and has three wire that clip in behind the OBD reader. Basically it keeps the vehicle in whatever traction mode you were in when you turned the engine off. Don't know if it will work on the Silverados, but it works like a dream on my Vettes.

That's what I'm afraid of.

Alright!!!! That is awesome! Corvette owners always try to figure things out. Hahaha (I have an L81 myself) :D

Thanks for the idea!

Now. I am no lawyer, but traction control is only a feature. It is not a federally mandated requirement. Is not as if I was turning off the rear brakes, que no? :)

Yes stability control is a NTHSA mandate now, I also doubt there is anything you can plug into the system to bypass the TC/ST system at this point.
