RPO code VYU on my 2001....what does it mean?

Recommended Posts

I have the snow plow prep package on my truck, but what does it actually contain? Stiffer front suspension? Bigger alternator?

With the high miles I'm hesitant at best to put one on my truck, but if I have "everything" on the truck that is needed to add a plow, I might still consider it. I'm already replcing the whole front right now anyways, so it would be in it's best possible ideal condition for a plow.

I'm pretty sure the VYU code is the rpo code for hd torsion bars.

RPO Code VYU (found on the sticker in the glove compartment)
Snow Plow Prep Package, includes 10-amp power for backup and roof emergency light, (KG3) 145-amp alternator, high-flow front bumper, forward lamp wiring harness, 1.65" (42 mm) access hole with grommet in front of dash panel, roof beacon lamp provisions with switch on the instrument panel, instrument panel jumper wiring harness for electric trailer brake controller, (K47) high-capacity air cleaner and (NZZ) Skid Plate Package

What Stevens14 said.

Also, the early frames had gussets behind the upper control arm rear bracket from the factory. Check out that spot on your frame and see if they are there. Should be a 45'd "triangle" from the frame to the rear upper arm mount. If they aren't there it would be worth adding them as the ones without are prone to cracking the frame right behind the control arm mount.
