2009 2500hd radio install question

Recommended Posts

Im new here, just purchased an 09 2500. went to change out the factory radio with an aftermarket one and ran into an issue i am hoping can be resolved. There is a round metal bar under the dash that i am guessing acts as some sort of support for the radio. I can't seem to fit my new radio in completely. Has anyone run into this issue? If so, is that metal tube removable or is it able to be cut down a bit in order to fit a new radio? Thanks for any help in advance!

What radio are you trying to replace it with and are you hitting the metal bar or the plastic "pocket" that encloses the radio? I have an 09 1500 and had to cut a little of the plastic out on either side to get my Pioneer 4600bt to fit properly, especially if you have any extra cables attached such as RCAs or iPod cables. Can you post a pic of the curved bar you are talking about?

I installed a Kenwood ddx719. I had already cut out a lot of the plastic back in the dash, alls that was left to cut was a metal plate that was welded to a bar behind that. i just cut away some of the metal plate and it seems like ill be able to fit the radio in now with all of the rca's connected
