Okay. Well I went online and looked up videos on youtube. So I know how to replace the resistor. Now the question comes that my resistor looks nothing like the ones they are replacing on the same year of trucks. There's looks like a 7 plug where mine is a 3 plug....mine doesn't look burnt or anything. Looks to be in good shape...I will post pics of mine...you all think it's still the resistor that I should change abd should i still worry about the wire? Thanks for all the help...

I think after looking online a little further it is going to be difficult to find this resistor at an auto parts store because if it has three prongs like mine it is for the auto temp control type. Which is what my duel climate control is...So it looks like I am going to have to order it and just trying to find out that this is definitely the problem before I order it and not be the problem...

Happy to read it is fixed. Looking at the replacement you would never expect it to actually connect, even using the patch cord it came with. Yours was a three wire, new one is a 2 wire, with a 5 wire patch cord.

I think there was a recall for this in Canada a few years ago. Don't recall for sure, but I know there was some public notice regarding hvac fan in the 03-07 model GM trucks..

The most common cause of HVAC fan issues is the resistor block that is used to control fan speeds. It is generally mounted to the heater box. Check the wires that are attached to it, and you will likely see the connector is starting to melt and turn black. It has been so long since I have seen one that I cannot help with its location or how it even looks these days. Back in the day, the block hung inside the heater box, and had three or 4 coils of wire that controlled the power going to the fan motor, thus controlling the speed. High speed by-passed this block completely and had its own 30amp inline fuse on the Chrysler products.

Someone will likely post here where the resistor block is located on your truck.

Actually, a quick search found this

What speeds do you have for the fan ?

It's doesn't have any speeds...mine is the digital automatic duel climate control...and even if you manually hit the fan button it doesn't work...it worked great and then going down the road all of sudden nothing would blow out and then probably 15 minutes later it came on for a few seconds and then quit again on its own..

Is there power at the resistor module ?

Is the there power at the blower at any speed selected ?

If you answered yes and no then the resistor module is deceased !!!! Lol

You need a new resistor module and a connector harness for it , Doug tends to ramble abit ...... Great guy though !!!!

Ok. Went to the parts store and they told me if I bought the resistor that uf it doesn't fix it then I could not return it...so instead of possibly wasting $100 on the part. I went back home and used a jumper wire to run power directly to my blower motor to make sure it was still good. It checked out to be good. So went back and bought the resistor and had to wire it in cause it goes from a 3 plug to using a 5 plug now but it was simple and fixed the problem. Thank goodness cause we are prejected to get up to 8 inches of snow tonight :-) Thanks for all the advice and help...
