For all those trail runners that may even get up to the ultra level, feel free to chat about it in here!

I've been running on and off for years now but only began to get serious last summer. I began at a few miles and have now completed a 25km race. This weekend I'm going into my second race, an awesome mountainous 21km just outside of phx.

My weekly totals are much lower than I'd like since I run 2 days... averaging 14-20km. Ideally I want to get to 3-4 running days, but its too much time away from the family after work. I've already negotiated sneaking in some long (15km+) runs on some Sundays.

I ran the black canyon 21km race yesterday. Unfortunately the common ITB inflammation slowed me down to walking speed the last 2 miles leading to a 3:05. My legs felt fine up until the end so without the itb pain I believe a 2:40 would have been achievable.

Yeah I've been doing stretches for it since last weekend and they've helped a lot. And I haven't run a significant amount since the race, just some running around with my son and then 20 mins stints on a treadmill.

I also plan to get back to working out since I need to regain strength.

  • 1 month later...

April was an awesome month and I'm about to end it with a total of 100km after tonights outing. I've averaged 9.5km although its my first month since October where I didn't have a run longer than 15km.

May should have at least 1 long run and including some activity in Italy!
