Chevrolet told GM-Trucks.com this week that fully 40% of all its trucks roll off dealer lots with some type of OEM suspension or tire upgrade. Therefore, it is no surprise that Chevy is continuing to bring out new packages for those customers that want to make their Colorado a bit more special. Today Chevy announced the Z71 Trail Boss Colorado.

Chevy says the new Trail Boss will feature Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 265/65R17 all-terrain tires and 17-inch dark argent metallic painted cast-aluminum wheels. The Trail Boss also benefits from the cool looks and functionality of the company's GearOn™ moveable cargo tie-down rings, load bar and cargo divider. Black fender flares complete the look.

Chevy adds the following other enhancements to the Trail Boss:

  • G80 automatic locking rear differential
  • Transfer case shield (on 4WD)
  • Front recovery hooks
  • Black, three-inch round rocker steps
  • Spray-on bedliner
  • Projector beam headlamps
  • Front fog lamps
  • All-weather floor mats with Z71 logo.

The Colorado Z71 Trail Boss will be offered in extended and crew cab configurations, with a choice of a long or short cargo bed and available 4WD. Dealers will be taking orders soon for spring deliveries.

At least they're making steps in the right direction even if it is baby ones. I want to see something of similar value done to a full size pickup.

Still making me eager to see the ZR2 :( of course king shocks is now offering a Colorado upgrade package. I want a full size Silverado/Sierra with a ZR2 front end, widened stance, rims, Duratracs (if they desire), king shocks, exhaust, 6.2L V8, and HIDs.

Imagine that but bigger with 35s and a 6.2L V8  Then we can maybe get something more along these lines

That said i do like the Colorado and Canyon i just think the price is wrong. While they're very great Mid-size trucks your nearing full size price. I mean i guess there are people who don't want that big of a truck. But if i can pay a little more and get a full size with more room, power, and towing ability i'm going to do so.

Problem is all the GM vehicles are way overpriced for what they offer. The full size trucks are overpriced so these are way overpriced for me. My '02 Sierra Denali was the last GM pickup that I bought. We recently test drove a new SD, it rode and drove like crap, the rotors were half the size as mine (and rusted to $hit), it had a bad acceleration lag and on the road it sounded like an empty tin can, bumpy ride too. For almost 60k you can do a lot better. They need to fire they're design and paint crew, up the quality and lower their prices. I'll wait for a used one since they drop in value pretty fast. Just disappointed in what my favorite brand has become. You can get a certified used (to 100K) late model BMW or Audi for around the same price and then by a cheap pickup with some miles on it if you really need one.

Where is Chevrolet's response to the Ford Harley Davidson edition? Maybe a Victory (Motorcycles) Editon? I made one myself out of my 2008 Silverado!

If GM would bring the ZR2 package back I would definitely own one. My favorite vehicle to this day was my ZR2 Blazer. That thing would go anywhere and the 4.10 gears were great.

A Silverado/Sierra with upgraded suspension, 3" factory lift, real off road tires (not the crap they have been using), and wider stance would be perfect. It would also need to have the 6.2L engine to complete the package.

I am going to wait a dozen years before I buy one...maybe plan for a LS9 or 7 engine swap
