2015 Tahoe Z71 ?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, Im new to Chevy/GMC trucks. I just bought a used Lexus GX 460, and I hate it.. way too small for me and I was coming from a Nissan Armada.. so I think I would like to get that Tahoe Z71 when it comes out this Fall. Do you guys think it will be off road worthy? I need some opinions

Thanks
MM

Not to hijack the thread but those small wheels on the Tahoe look terrible IMO. They look so much better with the 20's or 22's.

And to the OP, these are street vehicles and the Z71 is just a trim package, you'll get stiffer shocks and maybe a skid plate. Rest is just cosmetic. How much off-road capability are you looking for? It surely will be better then a Lexus!

And are the wheels the only thing to set it apart. The last 3 generations had a look that set them apart. I see this and with those wheels immediately think Tahoe LS

The wheel is different than the LS wheel...and they don't come with that dumb air dam on them...

It's a GM 4x4. It'll be fine for everything you're likely to do with the right tires.

...unless you want a rock crawler, then the heavy modding starts.

Tahoe = Chevrolet

Yukon = GMC

They are the same thing. Will either do better off-road that a Jeep Grand Cherokee? Doubt it.....Jeep's are MADE for off-road and just happen to have highway tires on them. GM trucks are designed to haul things/people and have the capability of 4WD.

Again, what are you considering off-road? Gravel roads...no problem. Grass parking lot.....sure, as long as they aren't wet and hilly. Snow.....decent on roads as long as they are somewhat maintained. Off-road mud bogging.......nope.

I give up. I'll just get the Tahoe LT with the Z71 package. I am not going on safari, I just want a car that is capable of doing most anything. I mean they advertise that on their website.. go anywhere do anything. Jeep is too small for me, and reliability is bad. I dont want to go for servicing all the time. Does anyone know if Tahoe has locking differential?
