new and needing help

Recommended Posts

So i have joined the community finally been reading forums for a while. I am hoping some one can shine some light on a subject for me. I have a 1999 chevy silverado 1500 5.3 4x4 ihave been battling with. I have done quite a bit of work to it and it has some new symptoms and I can't put my finger on which it maybe. So my symptoms are what looks as a contaminate in oil not bad but there. I am am thinking water by the way it looks. My coolant levels are not low and not leaking on outside. There is no oil in coolant tank. The trucks oil pressure bottoms out eventually after warming up. Very faint white smoke from exhaust. The truck does not run hot on gauge. Its seems it has no loose of power. Runs fine. I have already replaced oil sending unit. The truck does have a oil leak. Nothing thats excessive but yes a leak. The only thing i did notice after idiling and warming every once in a while I could smell an odd almost rubbery smell. No smell of coolant burning though. I dont know whether to change out oil pump and all gaskets or if its head gaskets. Would love ur thoughts and insights.

You should not have oil in the coolant tank. If you think the heads are bad, check your oil level. If the heads/gasket are the problem, the coolant will be in the oil. The oil level will show high with coolant in it and be a milky color.

Simple job, should not take very long to fix if that's the issue.

well guys oil is fine ran new oil for bout 2 hrs with some blue devil in it no more sit of oil leaking...oil is really dirty but no signs of water...i had ran MMO in it before..could have been why my oil looked off...i forgot to add that to original post...I am not loosing coolant to oil or the outside...i am leaning more towards oil pump.
