I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Any of the Mercede's vehicles that my family has owned have been fantastic. And it's only in North America that they are really known for only making luxury vehicles. Elsewhere the world, Mercedes are everywhere, taxis, cop cars, work vehicles, etc, etc.

And keep in mind, Mercedes has more than enough experience with making trucks already, ever heard of Unimog?

It's obviously a concept, I don't think anyone would buy something like that.... Something based off the G-wagen or 6x6 would be pretty successful I think. A 4x4 "like" the 6x6 would be able to handily put Jeeps in their place off road.

It would never be sold here. They'd have to produce it in North America to avoid the massive tariff on foreign trucks and I doubt the volume is there for that. Mercedes makes good stuff, I think you let your opinions on how they ran Chrysler cloud your judgement on the company as a whole.

The do advertise a car for 31500, it looks pretty good to me. They are building a dealer close to me so I'll be test driving one. I haven't bought an American brand car new since my 94 impala SS. Just haven't been impress by one. Plenty of trucks, Mazda and Hyundai cars. Zoom Zoom.

but I bet that the $31,500 pricetag is for the Bare bones Base Model with Zero options; once you start ticking option boxes with a Merc, the SKY is the Limit, and some of their products are SIX FIGURES.

Dr. Dieter Zetsche says they are targeting Latin America, South Africa, Australia and Europe with their luxury pickup

Enough said. Anyway its looks like a luxury version of the tundra.

How is them offering 6 figure vehicles a bad thing? GM has done it before. Heck, I can easily go to Chevy's website and option a 110K Z06 right now.

let me Rephrase that, a Six Figure BASE PRICE, which really only the Mega Rich (Millionaires and Billionaires) can afford to Option out.

You mean kind of like how Chevy can advertise a Silverado for under $30k but most sell for damn near $50k? Low base prices and insane final transaction prices are the norm. Hell, my Wrangler had an MSRP nearly $20k higher than a base model.

True, I'm sure there are a few that would grab up a strip MB, for the name.

But again, how should that be a problem? If they can sell their S and CLS sedans for a ton of money, more power to them. I don't hold that against them. Are we supposed to not buy from manufacturers that offer vehicles that we can't afford? No one is forcing anyone to go in and pay 6 figures, and they have a large selection for a range of buyers.

Tons. The popularity of the C class, 3 series and A4 prove that.
