e85 in Tahoe???

Recommended Posts

Are you sure that the much lower gas mileage was due to the driver's "throttle happy" attitude?

Wait, there is a competitive mode in the advanced handling/Stabilitrak?

It sure looks that way - push button once Comp Mode appears in display, push and hold for 5 seconds and Stabilitrak Off message appears - push again and Stabilitrak On message pops up.

And as far as my right foot being responsible for the 12mpg, I have tried to do the same mix of freeway, surface street, standing starts and commuting I did on the previous 2 tanks.

But still 1/3 tank left to try recover with freeway cruise control miles. :)

Final number was 12.8mpg.

87 octane 12.1c mile

91 octane 11.9c mile

e85 12.c mile

The extra power and peppier behavior with e85 is quite noticeable.

e85 dropped 10c per gallon yesterday, but 87 dropped 20c per gallon while 91 did not drop the same percantage - so 87 is a better bet now, but the extra pep of e85 is worth the extra pain of more frequent fill-ups.

3rd tank of e85, and it looks like 9 to 10mpg urban cycle, 16mpg hiway.

Keeps the average right around 13mpg on e85.

Luckily 2 of the 4 e85 gas stations in Houston are within 3 miles of home.

I got an app on my phone, flex fuel calculator. It showed that the last tank I ran in our Acaida it was still cheaper to run E85 with the mpg loss than run regular gas. Will see if it is the same on the Camaro.
