2017 Silverado testing

Recommended Posts

That's interesting, it doesn't look like a complete redesign but more model upgrades. Looks like the are going to a side by side headlight, with the lower light being the turn signal. Also looks like it's getting an LED style running light. That's all just best guess because of the camo cover, but there looks tone a change under there…

The grill looks the same through the cover as the Z71 grill. I think I see an LED strip on the headlight though. I'm wondering if they're replacing the upper/lower head light design like we have now with a 2 way projector and LEDs+ amber lights or something like the GMCs.

Tail lights look the same to me but its hard to tell one red mass from another.

Woof. The comments in that article. Never ceases to amaze me at the mouth breathers that scream "they're going to a crosshair grille like Dodge," or "why's there an oval emblem on the front." It's part of the camo geniuses.

Although the one thing I'll agree with them on, let's tone down the square wheel wells. When it was subtle on GMT400s and GMT800s, it looked fine. But if something doesn't change in the complete redesign in a few more years, they'll start looking like my 3 year old's letter blocks. Lol.

10 speed automatic...just ridiculous.

Can you imagine climbing a hill in traffic? Have to downshift 4-5 times just to get up the hill AND unlock DOD.

I think the 6 speeds are excessive with downshifts to climb a hill (like if you're accelerating up a hill) as it is. An 8 or even 10 would just be absurd. I still miss my 4 speed autos..

At some point there are certainly no gains in drivability (if not worsening), it is just for CAFE ratings.

with the 8sp 6.2 I drove last month, you could not really tell the trans was down shifting. All shifts were smooth and hard to tell which gear you were in. Only thing I noticed as if you soft foot it from a stop it shifts to second really too quick.

that same site now also has the 2017 sierra testing as well.

Looks like they will for sure change the grilles on both of them .

Some led tails , and maybe different front fenders ?

A power bump to the 5.3 would be nice and i cant wait for their new turbo V6

Can you amagine stop and go traffic with that..would be brutal.

Dunno, lots of commercial semi trucks have Allison TC-10 ten speed automatics yanking around 80,000 lb in stop and go traffic all the time. Doesn't seem to be "brutal" Or how about this setup.....
