Weight distribution requirement

I've got dealers locating a 2500/3500 SRW for me and I think after everything is considered the 2500 will be safe (~400lbs to spare until GVWR)...the 3500 SRW will just be gravy.

 

Does GM require WD on the 2500/3500 line?

 

I currently tow an Open Range 310BHS (9950 dry with 1250 tw) with a 1500 CC NHT. I noticed on TFL truck that they didn't use WD on their 3500 SRW denali test and the commentator complained that it was possibly due to their water tank not being forward enough.

Not required, it's in the towing section of the owner's manual, but if you have a WD hitch it wouldn't hurt to use it. It'll certainly drive and brake better if you can get some of the weight on the front axle.
