Would it benefit me or break me?

Recommended Posts

I want to install Magnaflow true dual exhaust for my 4.3 Silverado. True dual is in dual in and dual out. What would I have to gain otherwise, what would I have to lose? Would I expect the following: Increased acceleration takeoff, improved MPG by 1-2 miles, and HP gain?

Duals would be too much for a V6 in my opinion. Single in/dual out muffler sure, but not dual from front to back. As for performance and MPGs you're not really going to feel the difference, maybe lose some on the low end with dual front to back. The only difference is that straight duals front to back won't be as loud as a single in/dual out muffler.

I had true dual Flowmaster Super 40 (2 cats and 2 mufflers with an X pipe) and it wasn't nearly as loud as the one Flowmaster Super 44 muffler that's single in/dual out on my '14. The 40 and 44 from what I've read are the same loudness, just has a little different tone and the 44 is more aggressive.

If I was you, just do a single in/dual out muffler with about 2 1/2" pipe and you'll be fine. Good sound and won't lose anything on the low end.

Gains are insignificant in the first place because its asthmatic 4.3, I don't think its a good foundation to begin with.

I would recommend maintenance over an exhaust, such as refreshing thh suspension, steering, cooling, etc.

Uhh, all that is taken care of already. It has 60k original miles and never been abused. All it needs now is a 1LT upgrade, which i always inquired about and will commence next year. But i am considering doing a Magnaflow exhaust After the upgrade.

No company offers dual out of the box because it isnt necessary. Look at Corsa and Borla. Either single or dual out of the muffler. There is a reason for that. Dual is only necessary if you have high flow coming out of the engine. Pipe size is also important. For a V6 if you did dual it would only be 2" to keep you where you are for power and economy. Nothing to be gained from it without cam or other power adders
