Hello everyone, I'm new to the site, but not new to forums. I did lots and lots of reading and research, before joining and posting a new thread with topics that have been beaten to death. So if there's something I posted that I missed, I apologize in advance.

Foot/Footwell Lighting:

I'm OCD to say the least, has anyone used or know of LED lighing (bulbs, strips, pods) that match EXACTLY to the interior front and rear dome lights?

Also, I saw the threads that discussed and showed you what wire(s) to tap into so that the lights you add turn on with the dome lights, BUT...no mention of where the lights that you add will come on with the switch on the roof (off/door/on). Basically, I want the foot lighting that I plan on adding to come on when the doors are open, when I unlock the doors with the keyfob, AND when I select 'On' on the switch on the roof next to the sunglass holder. Possible? I don't see why not. Which wires or does it already function like I'm wanting with the current wires that are being tapped into in the previous discussions?

HID Headlights - Morimoto:

I chose this brand because it was labled the best and I've had HIDs in the past and I had a few issues with them regarding ballasts. My question here is, with the Sierra Spec kit, there is no 5000K color, only 4500, 5500, and 6500. I was impatient and ordered the 5500K kit, so which color matches the facotry LED DRLs the best? I'm hoping I made the right choice/guess.

Enging Lighting:

WIth so many brands, sizes, bulb count, etc. and as picky as I am, has anyone found any LED lights, pods, strips, etc. that match the color of the lights that are under the side mirrors (I'm guessing these are puddle lights from what I've read)? I really don't want to add a bunch of lighting that differs from the factory lighting. I'm not looking for anything tacky or overdone, but something to provide visibility under the hood at night when needed.

Amp Research Power Steps:

Are there any specific modifications that are required for the '14-15 model Sierras or any additional components (wiring, relays, harnesses) that need to be purchase/installed in addition to the kit? Does the light kit that is now included (I had these steps years back, but they didn't offer lights back then) match the color of the "puddle lights" (lights under side mirrors)?

Locking Gas/Fuel Cap:

Does GM offer a locking gas/fuel cap for the '14-15 model Sierra? Or is this a universal product? I couldn't seem to find anything here or anywhere else for that matter. I'm not looking to modify the fuel door, but would rather have the cap lockable.

Bed Lighting:

I ordered a GM kit already, but I came across 2 different numbers. I entered them both in several GM parts dealer websites and could not find a difference. I even called a couple of local dealerships and they could not provide me with a difference. Is there a difference? I read here that some people are experiencing a slight color difference in LEDs, something I hope I don't run into. These are the numbers I'm referring to: 23145347 20979073

Leveling Kit w/Magnetic Ride Control:

Ok...so I know this has been talked about, but some of the info is vague. I've already installed the Rough Country 2.5" leveling kit on my 2015 Sierra 1500 Denali and boy was it a night and day difference. It rides like crap. Stiff, bouncy, tight, completely took away from the smooth ride it had. If I can't find or come up with a solution, it's coming off. I've been working on vehicles for years and have always done my own work, so the obvious thing to do in this situation is relocate the sensors back to their original positioning. Simple solution, but getting it right is the tricky part. My question: Without knowing where the original position was, how do I figure out how far up or down to relocate the sensor? I really don't want to guess and would prefer to put it exactly back to the position that it was in. Some members here have using different kits, utilizing spacers on the top only, bottom only, both, and a variation of thicknesses. So that changes things too. Also, the pics that I've come across aren't that good and don't really give a good visual. From the looks of it, there may be some slight variation of the mounting/location of the magnetic ride control components because from what I've seen doesn't look like what I have, but again, the pics out there are few and limited.

Sorry for the extremely long thread, but a big thanks to whoever took the time to read it and even more so for those who chime in with help. Thank you.

I apologize for the spelling errors, grammer, and punctuation. I was in a hurry when I wrote that and didn't read proof read it. I didn't see where you could edit the thread, so I guess it's stuck the way it is.

I can maybe help you with a couple of your questions.

In reference to the HID color recommended to match the LED's in the headlights, I have the 5k color which pretty much matches perfect, but mine aren't Morimoto, so I would have to say the 4500k would be close but a bit more on the amber side and the 5500k will be a bit more on the blue side. You can always just order a 5k HID bulbs from somewhere. They're all made by the same people half the time anyway.

As for the AMP steps, I have the kit that came with the plug and play OBDII harness and that was all that was needed, they come with everything else required and were not hard at all to install. But the lights with the steps do NOT match the puddle lights. They're almost a purple color. It doesn't really bother me, but it might bother you. You could swap in any low profile LED that wouldn't interfere with the travel path of the steps though, that you think would match better.

I also have a '15 Denali and mine already has the bed lighting. Are you looking to add additional lighting?

As I said, I also have a '15 Denali and of course that means it has the megnetic ride control. I don't have a leveling kit, I have the full on 7" suspension lift from Full Throttle Suspension that comes with the extensions to retain the rear mag shocks. They claimed that the upper control arms up front (which is where the MRC reads the suspension position from) would remain at factory geometry. It did not. It basically had the same effect that your leveling kit has had on your truck. The rear of my truck rode like the day it was bought, but the front rode like a concrete truck because the upper control arm angle had steepened, therefore making the MRC think it's about to receive a big impact and bottom out, which makes it react by stiffening the shock in preparation. Yours can be remedied the same way mine has been fixed. I simply made a small "riser" bolted to the factory bracket where the MRC arm used to attach to the control at and then re-attached the MRC arm to the top of the bracket. Thus bringing the MRC sensor back to "home" position. It made a WORLD of difference. People are shocked at how nice the truck rides now not only for being lifted, but just for a truck period. I can provide some pictures of the brackets if that would help you. They're nothing more than 2 pieces of thin, flat metal with 2 holes drilled in them.

Gotcha. Well hopefully someone with Morimotos will chime in since your reply on this topic is merely a guess (but more than likely right on). I would rather be on the slight blue tinted side than yellow. I would prefer an exact match, but I doubt it'll happen. I'm already spending $170 on the kit, I didn't want to have to spend more money on separate bulbs to get the match.

I had the Amp steps on my '06 model 2500 Duramax, but that was quite a while ago. I did the install and it wasn't too bad, but when the time comes, I want to make sure I order all the necessary components in addition to the kit if there's any. I was merely trying to avoid receiving the steps, starting the install, and then realize I didn't order something. Did you use part # 76154-01A or 75154-01A? I've inputted the vehicle on Amp's website on 2 different occasions and got 2 different numbers, the ones I listed. I don't know the reason for this, but I want to make sure that I get the right kit. Aww that stinks...I was hoping the were white, maybe even a hint of blue, but definitely not purple.

Yes, I have a '15 Denali too and mine has bed lighting in it already as well, from the factory. Howoever, there's only 2 towards the tailgate and not any towards the cab. I purchased an OEM kit off of eBay, however, I came across 2 different part numbers (the ones I listed in my original post). I was wondering why there's 2 and what the difference was. I was concerned because I read that some members were experiencing a slight color difference in the LEDs from the ones that added and they ones that were factory installed.

The rear of my truck wasn't affected as bad as the front. It's just horrible. I know for a fact that the rear can be improved because the leveling kit I used had a slightly taller block than the factory. So again, the position was altered. I don't notice much difference, but the front I do. Lift kits are all designed with slight differences, but no matter the brand, if it changes the height or angle of the upper a/control arm, it's going to affect the sensor/the ride. Anyway, yes, pics would be great. The only ones I came across I couldn't really make it out. Sometimes it's hard for me to visualize descriptions, pics are always better. My question/concern here is, how do you know how much to space it? Certainly this is just a guess unless you knew the exact positioning prior to the lift. I didn't want to guess here, I wanted to be exact.

I called Amp and got the answer. 76154-01A is the plug-n-play version and the 75154-01A is the hardwire kit. That's why I was coming up with 2 different numbers. They're both for the '14-15, it's just a matter of how you want to it to wire in. Still bummed about the color of the light kit.

The only one I can help with is the lockable gas cap. GM doesn't offer one but they make universal ones, but I wouldn't trust them. I've heard of people being able to pull them off with their bare hands. Plus when I had one on my old 98 it threw a code.

I have an AMI lockable gas door. It's billet aluminum I believe and wasn't too bad on installing. So if you want something lockable then get a lockable gas door replacement, just the fuel cap.

Of all the accessories that GM makes, I'm surprised that don't make something as simple as a locking gas cap. I'm also surprised that no one makes a durable aftermarket.

Do you have any pics? Originally I didn't want to do the fuel door as I wanted to maintain the stock look, but if it's not too tacky, I may consider it.

If TRS hasn't shipped your order yet, you can call them and ask them to ship you 5000 bulbs instead of the 5500 bulbs. The guys at TRS are great people to work with. Another option would be to run 50W Ballast with 5500 bulbs which will actually bring the color down to around the 5000. I'm running a full FX-R projector retrofit with Osram 66240 CBI 5500K bulbs with 50W Morimoto Ballasts and mine match pretty well, and light up the road extremely well.

I had the Sierra Spec kit in my truck before I did the complete retrofit and it's a heck of a lot better than stock, but not near as good as the true HID projector retrofit. For the $170 kit, it's a good improvement over stock for sure.

I was not able to get measurements of the plates/brackets, but I have them written down at home. I determined what "home" position was BEFORE I installed the lift kit. I was concerned that this would happen as I didn't trust what FTS was telling me about the upper control arm geometry not changing. So before I installed the lift kit, I used an angle finder and a square to measure the control arm's factory angle from the top of the frame and the distance of the sensor arm from the top of the frame. Then when I made the brackets I just moved the arm up until it was back at this measurement and measured the difference between the stock bracket and the lower mounting point of the arm linkage, and then fabricated the brackets to make up this difference. If that's not exact enough for you, then I need someone like you to work on my race car, lol. Hope this and the pictures help. Let me know if you're interested in the measurements and I'll get them.

I have the AMP plug and play steps. The LEDs are NOT purple. They are a white LED (and no I don't know if it matches the puddle lights) The issue is due to the color of the steps and the light shining on it. The steps are almost a brownish color so the light looks off when staring at it from right above it. If you stand back 25 feet and look you'll see the true color. Hope this helps.

Edit: Whatever you do be sure to get the plug and play steps. It's an easy simple install. The other type will add hours of hunting for the correct wires. Then you must rely on crimped wire taps etc. to not fail someday in the future.
