Back window shattering??????

Well me and my dad were up hauling a camper with his 2014 6.6 2500 up north and when we got there he started backing up the camper and a large pop sound happened and the window shattered? Anybody hear of this? What the hell happened?? Really confused..

Fifth wheel? It's pretty easy to clip the back glass with fifth wheel campers while turning. Back windows are the least expensive andmost forgiving part of the truck to clip with a trailer. Tempered safety glass just occasionally lets go in spectacular fashion.

There's no rhyme or reason, there will be an imperfection in the glass and one day it lets go.

Yeah we thought about it all the way home and the only conclusion we could think of was clipping it even though it didn't seem like we touched it! It was the strangest thing though

Just a slight scrach on the outside glass and when temps change it can shatter ...

There is a service bulletin out there about the rear glass potentially shattering, there is apparently a number of trucks that have this issue, see your dealer service for more info.

It is a recall now for certain heated non sliding rear windows. Just got to the dealer for the scheduled maintenance and they told me about it. Looks like i'll be getting a new back glass.
