Newbie from Reno NV

Glad I found this forum! I'm a recent transpant to Reno, from San Ramon CA. I've been a loyal Toyota owner since 1982 (two 4WD pickups - '82 and '85, then a '97 4Runner whcih I've been driving for 16 years now). So, why am I here? My brother, now retired, was a GM employee for ~34 years and has been trying to sell me on GM products and their Family First Program forever. I guess my wonderful experiences with my very first car, a new '73 Vega, helped steer me away from American cars. Now, looking for a new vehicle, I naturally steered towards another Toyota, this time a 4Runner TRD Pro. Try to get one...nearly impossible. Tried to get a Trail Premium - same story. Started looking at every "other" 4WD vehicle, and the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon's caught my attention. Test drove a couple of Canyons, talked to my Bro, got set up with a GM Family First Authoization #, and went shopping! Unfortuanately, seems like the new Canyons have the same issue as Toyota when it comes to availability. But the short story is that I DO have a new Canyon CrewCab Shortbed on order, and I'm happy to have found this forum while looking for a valid way to track my trucks progress!
