The Cell phone "tray" at the front of the console

Recommended Posts

Has anyone modified it so that a phone with bottom charger (aka iphone) will set level. I would imagaine that all it would take would be a couple of well placed holes but I'm not sure what's under there and the truck is still new enough to not want to mess with it.

I just prop mine up in one of the 3 cup holders. If all 3 are full then I set mine on top of the console lid. It seems to stay in place pretty well on top of the lid. IT has the rubber piece that helps hold it in place and the sides are high enough to stop the phone from sliding off. I've even gone pretty fast on dirt roads without a problem. Of course it won't stay in place if you're in the woods or something where the truck is bouncing up and down and in that case I wouldn't have the phone out like that anyways.

I just stuff mine under the console lid and forget it, that is, if I even take it with me when I go to town. I rarely make a call from the pickup anyway, and if a call comes in, it will notify me via the overhead bluetooth link up. Most cases, I don't even answer it then, as I hate using the phone when I am driving. They can leave a message if it is important. Don't know how we survived all those decades with out cell phones around. They are a great tool, but also a nuisance sometimes. As far as not even taking it, no problem. If I actually have to make a call, the Onstar minutes will work.
